My grandmother made this cake for all occasions, it was easy to decorate for any holiday. Easter (colored chocolate eggs all around), Valentines (candy hearts on top and around cake) Halloween (small pumkins and candy corn) Christmas (red and green M&M's) or just use your imagination.
You will need:
- 1 large angel food cake - Divide into 3 pieces and break up
- 2 pkg - Knox Gelatine dissolved in cold water - add 1 cup boiling water and mix
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 small can (tuna size) crushed pineapple
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
LET ALL THIS SIT UNTIL SYRUPY.
Add 1 Tablespoon of lemon juice
Mix 2 pkgs of Dream Whip that has been beaten and fold into gelatin mixture
Get a large mixing bowl, line with foil. Put a layer of cake (broken up) in the bottom of the bowl. Spread mixture on top. Do this for 3 layers - let sit in refrigerator overnight.
Turn bowl upside down and cake should come out in the form of the bowl.
Beat 1 pkg Dream Whip and spread over cake for icing..Sprinkle coconut over Dream Whip.
Ready to decorate or leave as is……..Keep refrigerated until ready to eat.
