Fabric Pomander |
|
Materials Needed:
- Craft glue
- 2" foam ball
- 50-75 (1-1/2" square) fabric cut with pinking shears
- 1-1/4 yard (1/2" wide) satin ribbon
- 50-75 whole cloves
- "Puncher" (1/8" diameter dowel, crochet needle, chop stick, etc.)
|
Procedure:
- Place puncher in center of fabric square. Push 1/8" to 1/4" into ball. NOTE: For added hold, dip tip of fabric square into glue before inserting into ball. Open square of fabric. Dip end of clove in glue and insert into hole in middle of fabric. It is not necessary that the clove
be entirely down in the hole. Continue adding squares of fabric and cloves about 3/8" apart. Fold the previous squares back out of the way until the entire ball is covered. Leave a 1/4" x 1/2" wide open area for ribbon hanger.
- For hanger, cut a yard long piece from ribbon. Fold ribbon in half and punch the fold into ball. Make a bow from remaining ribbon. Glue bow to top of ball over ribbon hanger base.
