Candy Containers - I used clean tuna and cat food cans to make holiday candy containers. A great project for school kids. First I painted the outside of the cans white. Then I punched two holes near the top edge on opposite sides and used light weight craft wire to make a little handle. Now it
sort of looks like a little basket.I stamped around the outside with simple shapes made from a kitchen sponge and craft paint. Hearts, Christmas trees, Shamrocks, etc. I filled rectangles of colored cellophane with a few pieces of hard candy and tied the top closed with a piece of narrow ribbon
and put that inside the can. These are VERY inexpensive and the school kids loved being able to make and take a gift home. Contributed by Jewell Halwachs
Mini Easter Topiary - Besides the tuna can, you'll need big curly chenille, glue, wiggle eye, tulip paint, popsicle stick, colored Easter filling, candy, and a 2" styrofoam ball. This is sort of a mini topiary, you fill the bottom (tuna can) with candy, and decorate the styrofoam ball as any
animal you want. That way this project can be adapted for any holiday. First clean can and glue pop stick. Push styrofoam ball onto top of stick. Glue on the curly chenille, going all around the can and the pop stick and the ball. Add on the eyes and mouth if you wish. Add on extra piece of chenille
for the wings, then add in the stuffing then the candy. Use yellow chenille for a duck, white and red for a Santa, brown and white for a dog or cat (add ears for animals) brown and orange for a turkey, etc. Your imagination will carry the rest for you. Contributed by Cookie, Chchpcook@aol.com
